Leave
waterfall station, arrive at the start of the Uloola Track. |
Arrive at the Uloola falls campsite. (We've
arrived at our first waypoint very early, at a rate faster than i first
predicted. To tell the truth, we were power walking our way here, and
based on this early sign, i've made a slight adjustment to the schedule.

Arrive at Karloo Pool (break) |
Arrive at the foot of an unmarked pool (I know where we are, but Vu believes we're 4km up the river closer to Audley. We can't have walked for more than a kilometre at most and i can see a track going uphill and i believe this is the same track as indicated on the map which joins up with the 4WD track later on. We'll follow this track to higher ground, take a bearing to confirm our position, but i'm pretty confident that we're on the right path) |
High
ground above the unmarked pool Taking a bearing to the valley to the south/south-east, it's perfectly in line with a river valley on the map soth/south-east from where i believe we are. We're on the spot! |
Kangaroo creek There's
a convenient set of steel stairs up the next hill, thank god! I guess
that without the stairs, it'd take us a good half an hour to climb this
bugger... |
Audley We've
set an excellent pace! This is way beyond my expectations for the first
major hike for our crew, and whilst walking along the last 2km, i can't
help but be confident that this augurs well for upcoming rambles in
september and january. |
Leave Audley --> Lady Carrington Drive The sun has set, and the ducks are making even more activity on the water (don't wanna ponder on EXACTLY what they're up to there...) and the party is well rested. The thought of ghosts linger at the back of my mind (we've all heard the Warragamba story a hundred times), but are quickly dismissed. |

SIR BETRAM STEVENS DRIVE!!! It's
an utter feeling of jubiliation here... for the last 2 hours, we've
had no idea how far along the track we were. There's something about
night hiking that makes u unaware of just how far you've travelled...
We passed the Wallamurra track a while back, the original plan was to follow that to governor game lookout, but our torches aren't that well suited to minor tracks at night, so we decide to take the longer, yet safer way. Kent's legs are starting to cramp up. |
Turnoff down to Garie Beach We stopped at Little toonum falls for a while there to give kent's cramps some much needed relief. Walking against the traffic, we slowly made our way up Sir Bertram Stevens Drive to Governor Game lookout, Kent seems possessed when we were only 1km out from the turnoff... his cramps went away and he started powerwalking faster than the rest of us combined! |
Governor
Game lookout We've put down a flysheet and we'll sleep on this tonight. I just
realised something... weve done almost 2/3rds of the hike in just over
10 hours... WOW! Two thoughts immediately come to mind... |
Governor Game lookout The sunrise... is amazing... as always. |
Leave Governor Game lookout for Garie |
Arrive at Garie Beach Could you believe it? I saw a deer of all things in the bush!!! I thought i was hallucinating... a deer of all things in the royal national park! Such a quiet beach, knowing how easy the rest of the hike is, we decide to bum here for half a day. |
Finally leave Garie Beach |
At the top of the cliffs north of Garie Beach. Normally, a cliff like that would take the grunt out of anyone, but we made good work of it. Still, we decide to take 5 and check out the amazing view |
Reach eagle rock Our speed is still up, i take that as a sign that over the previous day nighter, we've set our pace as a group. |
